Dodge is returning to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027, Stellantis announced Monday at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
Kaulig Racing will be the anchor team for Dodge and Ram, the company said. Kaulig will announce its 2027 driver lineup during NASCAR Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Dodge will then reveal the car that will wear its livery in Cup competition on Dec. 4 at the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.
"Everyone said it was impossible to get back in one year. We said, 'watch this,'" said Tim Kuniskis, who heads Stellantis' American brands.
Kaulig will field two Dodge Chargers, NASCAR.com reports. Dodge last raced in the Cup Series in 2012, when a Dodge Charger won the championship. NASCAR.com also reports this is the first new manufacturer to enter the series since Toyota in 2007.
The Windsor angle
The Charger nameplate is built at Windsor Assembly Plant, Stellantis says. That includes the all-electric Charger Daytona and the gas-powered SIXPACK Chargers, which went into production in Windsor in December 2025.
NASCAR Cup cars are purpose-built race cars, not production vehicles. The link would be the name and the badge, not the car itself.
Dodge's own release does not name the Cup car; it will be shown Dec. 4. We'll update this story after the reveal.
