Windsor's Jasmine "Jazzy" Ankamah is one of three self-advocates in a new Canada-wide campaign from the Canadian Down Syndrome Society (CDSS) for Canadian Down Syndrome Week.

The campaign, Not Without Us!, uses a pro wrestling match to take on viral misinformation about Down syndrome. In the video, Jazzy wrestles as "Diva Sassique." When a villain called "The Imposter" asks if she can wrestle, she answers, "Assume that I can," a nod to an earlier CDSS campaign.

The video was filmed in the ring with Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, the promotion run by Windsor's Scott D'Amore. CDSS executive director Laura LaChance told CBC News that each of the wrestling villains stands for a misconception about people with Down syndrome.

The society says people with Down syndrome should control their own stories, and it asks Canadians to listen to them rather than misinformation. Its campaign site, NotWithoutUs.ca, has personal stories and facts.
