What you get
- Breaking safety news in Windsor-Essex: major fires, police or emergency warnings, evacuations, boil-water or shelter-in-place notices.
- Major road closures that change how people get around: bridge, tunnel, highway and big downtown closures.
- Election results on Oct. 26, 2026: mayor and council results as the City reports them.
How often
Rarely. Most weeks there will be none, and never more than one a day. Each alert is a headline, two lines and a link to the full story, with its sources. Every alert is checked by a person before it goes out.
How it works
Alerts are posted to the Windsor News public Telegram channel, @windsornews. Open the link above in the Telegram app and tap Join. You can mute or leave the channel any time. We do not see your phone number.
By email: the same alerts, sent with Buttondown, plus our free Sunday digest of the week's local stories. Confirm with the link Buttondown emails you; every email has a one-click unsubscribe. If you only want alerts, Telegram is the alerts-only option.
