How the status column works
- Every promise starts as Not started. Nothing changes until after the Oct. 26 vote, and only for candidates who are elected.
- After the election, a status can move to In progress, Done or Broken. Each change will link a public record that shows it: a council decision, a budget line, a City report or a statement from the official.
- If the record is unclear, the status stays where it is and we say what is missing.
Methodology
- The candidate list is the City Clerk's official Who is Running list for mayor and council (checked Oct. 17, 2026), cross-checked against the Clerk's certified candidate list (Aug. 24, 2026). School board trustee races are not included.
- Promises come only from each candidate's own campaign website, the site they gave the City Clerk. We did not use news reports, social media or other people's descriptions, so every candidate is measured the same way.
- We picked up to four specific, checkable commitments per candidate, in the order they appear on the candidate's site. Short phrases are quoted; longer ones are closely paraphrased and kept to the candidate's meaning. Slogans and general values are left out. Where a candidate lists commitments as headings, we use the headings.
- Some candidates post their platform as an image. We typed out that text and note it beside the source link. Where our tools could not open a candidate's site, we used screenshots of the candidate's platform page and note that the same way.
- “Seen” is the date we read the page. Campaign sites change; we keep a copy of each page as we read it.
- “No public platform found” means we could not find specific commitments on a campaign website listed with the City on that date. It is not a judgment of the candidate.
- These are campaign promises, not City policy. Listing a promise is not an endorsement. Windsor News does not endorse candidates.
