Members of Provincial Parliament

About strong-mayor powers: no MPP vote to report. Since the Feb. 27, 2025 election, the Legislature has not voted on giving strong-mayor powers to Windsor-Essex towns. That was a cabinet decision, made by regulation. O. Reg. 530/22 lists the municipalities with those powers. Its current list was set by O. Reg. 41/25, in force May 1, 2025. That list includes the City of Windsor, Amherstburg, Essex, Kingsville, Lakeshore, LaSalle, Leamington, Tecumseh and Chatham-Kent. A later cabinet amendment, O. Reg. 189/26, in force June 22, 2026, added the "lame duck" limits and the post-election budget rule. Neither O. Reg. 41/25 nor O. Reg. 189/26 went to a vote, so no MPP has a recorded vote on them. The law that allows strong-mayor powers, Part VI.1 of the Municipal Act, 2001, was passed in 2022, before these members' current terms. Source: ontario.ca/laws, O. Reg. 530/22 (current to Oct. 28, 2026).
