Election results in several Essex County towns are now official, and LaSalle's certified count corrects an election-night error without changing any winner.
LaSalle
On the morning of Oct. 27, the Town of LaSalle found that votes cast at its Voter Help Centres had been counted twice in the results released on election night. The town's certified results correct the totals, and it says they do not change who was elected. The town has posted a Declaration of Election Results and a statement from Comitia, its voting software provider.
Michael Macri won the mayor's race with 4,670 votes. Incumbent Crystal Meloche had 4,594, a margin of 76 votes, and Shaun Dass had 2,921. Michael Akpata was re-elected deputy mayor with 5,787 votes. Meloche said in a statement that she fully accepts the certified results. Turnout was about 42 per cent, with 12,343 ballots cast out of 29,277 eligible voters.
Tecumseh
Municipal Clerk Robert Auger certified Tecumseh's results on Oct. 27. Joe Bachetti was elected mayor with 7,017 votes and Tania Jobin deputy mayor with 5,773. Turnout was 47.4 per cent.
Lakeshore
Lakeshore has posted certified results. Tracey Bailey was elected mayor with 8,399 votes and Kirk Walstedt deputy mayor with 5,472. Ward 6 was the closest race: Larissa Vogler won with 920 votes to Louis Tremblay's 891.
Amherstburg
Amherstburg's Clerk has certified the results. Chris Gibb was elected mayor with 3,928 votes and Bill Petruniak deputy mayor with 5,146. Turnout was 41.49 per cent.
Kingsville
