About 35 students from St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Secondary School were set to place flags on the graves of local veterans at Victoria Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Tuesday morning, Nov. 3, to prepare for Remembrance Day, the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board said.

The visit was scheduled for about 9:30 to 10:40 a.m., according to Stephen Fields, communications coordinator for the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board. Teacher Paula Brownlee was the on-site contact.

The school has done this before. In November 2025, Grade 10 history students from Villanova joined members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594 at the same cemetery to place flags on veterans' graves, guided by Brownlee, the board reported on its website.

Remembrance Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Lest we forget.
