Windsor's fall yard waste pickups are under way. Here is how to make sure your leaves get taken.
When: there are four fall collections in October, November and December, plus one in January for Christmas trees and leftover yard waste. Your yard waste day is marked with a paper bag symbol on your collection calendar. If you don't have a calendar, call 311.
What time: put yard waste at the curb by 6 a.m. on your collection day, and not before 6 p.m. the night before. Crews collect between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
What to use: paper yard waste bags, 125-litre garbage cans, cardboard boxes or roll-out carts. Plastic bags are not collected.
How heavy: keep each filled container under 20 kg.
Keep leaves off the road: raking leaves onto the street is unlawful and creates a dangerous road condition. Street sweepers will not pick them up.
Tip from the City: mow or mulch leaves first, and about three containers' worth will fit into one.
