Windsor Police have arrested three people and issued a warrant for a fourth after an attack in which a person was sexually assaulted, threatened with a firearm and struck with weapons.

What police say happened

At about 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 26, 2026, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a business in the 800 block of Campbell Avenue, where they found a person with serious injuries, the Windsor Police Service said in a news release Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026.

Police say the victim had been lured to a nearby residence, where they were assaulted by three men and a woman during a dispute. The victim was allegedly confined inside the residence, where a suspect pointed a handgun at them, threatened to kill them and fired a round into the floor near their feet. Police say the victim was also assaulted with multiple weapons and sexually assaulted.

The victim later escaped, sought help and was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and identified four suspects.

The arrests

On Oct. 29, officers arrested Hayley-Ann Gingras, 27, at Windsor Police headquarters while she was in custody on an unrelated matter. She is charged with sexual assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and breach of probation.

On Nov. 2, officers arrested Corey James Parent, 35, in the 500 block of Tuscarora Street. He is charged with forcible confinement.

On Nov. 5, shortly before 6:30 p.m., members of the OPP-led Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad arrested Michael Samuel Rainone, 62, after an armed standoff at a residence in the Town of Essex. Police say Rainone pointed a weapon at officers and threatened to kill them, then came out of the house and charged at officers with a knife. He was taken into custody with help from an OPP K9 unit.

Rainone is charged with sexual assault with a weapon, discharging a firearm with intent, forcible confinement, possession of a firearm while prohibited (five counts), possession of a prohibited firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon for committing an offence, and uttering death threats.
