The Gordie Howe International Bridge multi-use path for walkers and cyclists is closed again today, Thursday, Oct. 29, the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority says. It was also closed Wednesday.

Why

The closure allows testing of the bridge's fire suppression systems. The bridge authority says travellers should not be alarmed by the presence of local fire departments.

For drivers

The right lane heading from the U.S. into Canada is closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. The bridge authority says delays are possible and asks drivers to allow extra time.

Winter hours start Sunday

From Sunday, Nov. 1, to March 31, the path is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entry ends one hour before closing. From April to October it is open until 8 p.m.

The bridge authority posts closures on the bridge's website and official social media accounts.
