You don't need a beard to take part. Grow On Windsor, the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation's November fundraiser, kicked off Friday with a $375,000 goal.

Where the money goes

The foundation says this year's money will help transform the last of three original radiation treatment bunkers at the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre. The upgrade adds advanced imaging technology that the foundation says will allow faster, more precise and more personalized radiation treatment, and help the cancer program keep up with growing patient numbers and reduce wait times.

How it works

The foundation launched Grow On Windsor in 2014. The campaign asks men to grow facial hair through November and collect pledges, but the foundation says anyone can join:

Sign up on your own or as a team and collect pledges.

Host your own fundraising event, like a trivia night.

Team up with a local business on a promotion.

The foundation says all money raised stays local. Gifts over $25 get a tax receipt.

What it means for you

If you or someone you love has been treated at the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, this year's campaign is paying for an upgrade there. Registration is open now at GrowOnWindsor.ca.
