Remembrance Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11. Here is where Windsor-Essex is marking it.

Windsor

The City's official outdoor service is at the Cenotaph in City Hall Square, beginning at approximately 10:50 a.m. It will stream on the City of Windsor Facebook page. YourTV Cogeco plans to broadcast at 11:00 a.m., with rebroadcasts at 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. that day.

Organizations and people who want to lay a wreath must pre-register with Bonnie Burian, secretary of the Windsor Veterans Memorial Services Committee, at 519-973-4057 or bburian@cogeco.ca. The City says those who do not pre-register will not be called during the service.

LaSalle

The Town of LaSalle and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594 hold their ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at LaSalle Cenotaph Park, behind the Civic Centre at 5950 Malden Road. Anyone who cannot attend can watch on the Town of LaSalle YouTube channel, the Town says.

Essex

The Windsor Veterans Memorial Services Committee schedule lists a Legion Branch 201 parade and act of remembrance at the Essex Centre Cenotaph on Nov. 11. An exact start time was not published on the listing we checked.

What else is on

From Nov. 9 to 13, City Hall will be illuminated in red each night. Decorative lighting on parts of Ouellette Avenue will be red and white in the same window. Chimczuk Museum offers free admission on Nov. 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Art Windsor-Essex is also free that day.

Museum Windsor also lists a Great War South Walkerville street-sign tour on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1:00 p.m. ($10; pre-register at 519-253-1812).

What it means for you

If you cannot get to a service, pause for a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. wherever you are.
