Voting Day in Windsor's 2026 municipal election is Monday, Oct. 26, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters will choose a mayor, city councillors and school board trustees. Here are four common myths, checked against City of Windsor information.
Myth: You need your voter notification card to vote
Fact: You don't. The City says voter notification cards have been mailed, but you do not need one to vote. Bring acceptable ID that shows your name and qualifying address. If your card has wrong information, bring it with your ID to any poll and staff will correct it. New cards will not be issued.
Myth: You can only vote at one assigned location
Fact: You can vote at any voting location in your ward, on Voting Day or at an advance vote.
Myth: Voting Day is your only chance
Fact: Advance voting started at the WFCU Centre on Oct. 9 and 10. The remaining advance votes are:
Wed. Oct. 14: Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex (sports gym), 2555 Pulford St., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Thu. Oct. 15: All Saints' Anglican Church, 330 City Hall Square West, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sat. Oct. 17: Mic Mac Park, 1125 Prince Rd. (enter from Matchette Road), drive-thru, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Mon. Oct. 19: Most Precious Blood Parish, 1947 Meldrum Rd., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The City says advance dates, locations and hours are subject to change.
Myth: You have to pay bus fare to get to the polls
Fact: Eligible voters can ride Transit Windsor free when going to or from voting on Voting Day or any advance voting day. No voter card is needed. Tell the driver you are going to vote.
