Environment Canada's official daily data for the Windsor Airport station shows a high of 30.1°C on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026. Earlier hourly readings that afternoon had topped out at 29.9°C at 4 p.m.
The Weather Network says the reading broke the daily record for Oct. 13 in both Windsor and Sarnia. It is also the latest date in the year either city has recorded 30°C. Until now that had always happened in the first week of October, and Windsor's previous latest 30°C day was Oct. 8, 2007, when it reached 31.9°C.
Windsor's all-time October high still stands at 32.2°C, set on Oct. 6, 1963.
Why it was so warm
The Weather Network says humid air from the remnants of post-tropical storm Rachel pushed into southern Ontario, with dew points near 20°C, ahead of a cold front that was due overnight.
Cooler days ahead
Environment Canada's forecast calls for showers on Wednesday with a high of 20°C, a high of 15°C Thursday, showers and wind Friday with a high of 15°C, then sunshine Saturday with a high of just 12°C. The normal high for this time of year is 15°C.
