If you have been thinking about adding a pet to your home, this week brings adoptable animals out of the shelter and into two Windsor stores.
It is National Adoption Week, which PetSmart Charities runs from Oct. 19 to 25, 2026. The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society is taking part at two Windsor stores: PetSmart South Windsor, 3164 Dougall Ave., and PetSmart Tecumseh Mall.
Wednesday event
The Humane Society lists an Adopt Joy in-store adoption event at both stores on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Check the Humane Society's events page for times before you go, since in-store hours can change.
What to expect
The Humane Society says the in-store events let people meet adoptable pets and ask staff and volunteers questions about finding the right match for their home.
Can't make it to a store?
The Humane Society's adoptable animals can be viewed and applied for online at any time on its website.
What it means for you
Adopting is a long-term commitment, so it helps to meet a few animals and ask questions first. These events are a low-pressure way to do that close to home.
