The City of Windsor says construction is complete on University Avenue West between McEwan Avenue and Salter Avenue, and the street is back to normal operation.

What is open

Normal traffic has resumed through the area, along with on-street parking, the bike lanes and public services, according to the City's construction notice.

What the project included

The work covered new storm sewers, new watermains, new street lighting and rehabilitation of the road itself.

Work that is not finished

The City says the roadway is open and fully operational, but some minor restoration remains. That includes overhead utility relocations, removal of existing hydro poles after cables are transferred, sidewalk repairs and some boulevard landscaping. Residents and drivers may see crews in the area from time to time while that work is completed.

Final paving in 2027

The final surface layer of asphalt, from Elm Avenue to Salter Avenue, is expected to go down in fall 2027, near the end of the project's maintenance warranty period, the City says.

The City directs residents with questions to call 311 or check its Construction and Detours web page.
