What the report says

Automotive News reported on Oct. 13, 2026 that Stellantis plans a 2028 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. The outlet said it based the report on a planning document it reviewed. According to the report, the car would use a supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 with rear-wheel drive, and production would start in late 2027 at about 12,000 vehicles a year.

The Automotive News report does not name the plant that would build the car. Stellantis's own fact sheet lists the Dodge Charger Daytona among the vehicles built at Windsor Assembly, which launched Charger production in December 2024. CTV News Windsor linked the report to the Windsor plant.

What the companies say

Windsor News asked Stellantis on Oct. 14 to confirm the report and whether Windsor Assembly would build the car. LouAnn Gosselin, Head of Canada Communications, replied: "We do not comment on future product plans."

Windsor News also asked Unifor on Oct. 14 and has not yet heard back.

What it means for workers

The report is not confirmed, and no product, plant or job numbers have been announced. Windsor Assembly workers are represented by Unifor. Members of Unifor Local 444 hold a strike authorization vote on Oct. 17, with results expected Oct. 19. A three-week shutdown at Windsor Assembly also starts Oct. 19.

Windsor News will update this story if Stellantis or Unifor shares more.
