High school students thinking about a career in the trades, and their parents, can meet local manufacturers on Thursday night.
The event
The Canadian Association of Mold Makers (CAMM) is holding a Parent and Student Night at Catholic Central High School, 2465 McDougall Ave., on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is co-hosting. The night is part of CAMM's second annual Manufacturing Month.
The school board says it is a chance for students and their parents to meet local manufacturers and learn more about careers in manufacturing-related trades. According to the event poster, people who attend can meet local manufacturers, learn about career pathways, talk about job opportunities, and ask questions and find resources.
Why it matters
Manufacturing is one of Windsor-Essex's biggest employers. Workforce WindsorEssex told AM800 News this week that the region added 2,700 manufacturing jobs over the last 12 months. On Tuesday, Ontario announced close to $4.9 million in support for $38.3 million in investments by four Windsor-Essex manufacturers, with 69 new jobs planned.
How to go
The event is listed as a parent and student night. For details, see camm.ca or contact CAMM through the information on the event poster.
